two two pairs
Both hands occur in the Foxwoods 5/10 kill game. In one of these hands, I check/call the river and in the other I check/fold. I won't say which.
Hand 1: Just sat down and got right in the natural big blind. There is a full kill on in UTG+1, which means we go to 10/20 this hand. No reads in particular but assume this is a standard passive-aggressive loose small stakes game. Villain is neither Asian nor wild looking. Hero has 76 offsuit in the BB. UTG+1 (killer) checks, 3 limpers, SB calls the $10, Hero completes BB to kill for $5 more. Flop (6 players, 6 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Killer checks out of turn and a couple others check before I get a chance to defend my action but it doesn't check through and dealer says "oh yes, action starts here" SB checks, I bet, killer calls, all others fold. Turn 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 BB, headsup) I bet, he raises, I call River 10 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (8 BB) Hand 2 : No kill so it's regular 5/10. Raiser in this hand could have a pocket pair or two high cards. Everyone is fairly straightforward (I'm not saying good) postflop. Hero limps red 44 UTG. 1 limper (villain), MP raises, 2 coldcalls, BB calls, Hero calls. Flop (6 players, 12 SB) 6-5-3 rainbow BB makes a stutter bet, hero raises, villain coldcalls, others fold, BB calls. Turn (3 players, 9 BB): 8 putting up 2 spades BB checks, hero bets, villain raises, BB folds, hero calls River (13 BB): 8 no flush obv. |

Re: two two pairs
hand 1 i foldfoldfold i think killer has trip 5s
hand 2 the flop raise is bad. not sure what you beat at showdown but once you call the turn maybe you called the river also since it's a big pot. |

hand 2 the flop raise is bad. [/ QUOTE ] Wow, really? I have a vulnerable pair and an OESD (which is nice to keep people in but the pot's big and growing). I was actually going to checkraise the PFR but this doofus bet into me with what's probably supernothing so now I can lay 8:1 odds and possibly fold out some overcards. and yeah, the 5/10 has been treating me well especially since it's often 10/20 stakes against players who should be in the 2/4. |

Re: two two pairs
i would rate our vulnerable pair as an already beaten pair, most of the time. and we don't really want to hit a set because then someone will have a straight a lot of the time. so i rate the oesd as our best shot at the pot, so that's why i like a call so people with overcards or whatever overcall, giving us nice odds. plus our position isn't great. i think 3way or something i'd like the raise fine, as you said, but 6way i'm not sure about it.
i'm going to think about this one some more. |

Re: two two pairs
Hand one is fine, I think.
I hate the flop raise in hand two. I also hate the turn call. I think you can safely fold to the raise there. That's just me though. Perhaps Count is rubbing off on me. |

[/ QUOTE ] You realize hero is open ended right? c/f river in hand one. I also hate the flop raise in hand 2. I'd probably c/f the river on this one too. |
