Default Should I have punched this guy in the mouth?

Earlier tonight I stopped at the grocery store like I do a couple times a week to buy some Naked juice. I usually buy 2 bottles, AND NOTHING MORE. I use the automated checkout line, and I estimate that it takes NO MORE than 3 minutes to get back outside of the store from the time I enter.

With that said, whenever I do this I don't park in a parking spot, but I park in the fire lane and usually turn my hazard lights on unless there's a parking spot extremely close to the entrance.

So I parked in the fire lane... went in bought the drinks in about 2 minutes, and when I came out there was an employee climbing into my car. Just before he put his last leg in my car and shut the door I said "hey!" He didn't close the door, but hopped out and looked kinda scared.

He switched his demeanor ASAP and said "You CAN'T park here." I said "Sorry bout that, I'm leaving".

Up until this point I hadn't mentioned him getting in my car, nor did I plan to.

HIM: (as I'm getting in my car and starting it) Hurry up and just go.

ME: Dude, chill I could've left quicker if you weren't in my car when I came out [censored].

HIM: What'd you say?

ME: Why the [censored] were you getting in my car when I came out?

HIM: To teach you a lesson

ME: You're [censored] stupid, go bag groceries. (I was pissed at this point, but nowhere near mad enough to fight, I just wanted to piss him off more)

HIM: Next time you park there I'm calling the police

ME: Riiiiight...

(He was getting pissed, and if someone was watching they would've assumed we we're about to fight, but for some reason I wasn't super pissed.)

ME: Look dude, I'm leaving, it's no big deal, just chill the [censored] out and leave me alone.

I drove off and I was checking for him in the rear view and he was just standing there until I got back on the main road (like 250 feet away from the entrance).

I'm not mad at all, but I told both of my female roommates and they said they'd have beat his ass.

The guy was probably like 27-33 years old, and I'm guessing he saw me get out of my car when I came because I doubt he would've done that to an elderly person, female, or anyone over 30.

I will inevitably park in the same spot sometime in the near future, and I'm sure he'll wanna feel tough and confront me again.

You should have punched him in the face and next time you should park in a normal parking spot.

The hazard lights stay on when the keys are out of the ignition. I don't just leave my car running when I go inside. [img]/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img]

wtf kind of a poll is this?
anyways, I think both of you are idiots for this. Just park in a normal spot, or buy more then 2 of these drinks each time you go so you dont make so many trips to the store.

From here out I'm only parking in fire lanes and handicapped parking spaces. So that's out of the question.

Are you telling me you're too lazy to park in a normal spot like everybody else? I love how people think that just because they're buying two items they have the right for some super ultra-expedited shopping experience. If anything delays them, they're suddenly like "HEY! I HAVE VERY FEW ITEMS!"

"HEY! YOU HAVE 10 ITEMS, BUT I ONLY HAVE A BANANA AND A TUB OF VASELINE! STEP ASIDE!"

Do you think that every person who anticipates a shopping time of under 5 minutes should be allowed to roll up into the fire lane?

Clearly the employee was wrong to try to drive your car away. And his whole "to teach you a lesson" crap was out of line too. Still, your argument is greatly weakened by your need to park in the fire lane.
