Default Energy Drain Right Before I Play

(I am not really sure if this is the place to put this so Mods feel free to move it)

The last few months right before I start to play poker I get this energy drain where it feels like I could fall asleep. It really comes on sudden, and only when I'm about to play poker. I could have slept 8 hours and got up 2 hours before I play and I get the same feeling. It makes it hard to put in the hours when half the time I have to take a nap. I'm 21, I shouldn't need a nap all the time when I sleep fine at night.

Anyone else get this? or knows whats causing me to have a massive energy drain right before I play?

I have been thinking about getting caffeine pills and take them before I play. Not sure if this is a good idea or not.

It's probably chemical.

IE- Your brain chemistry is getting ready for the gamb00l-induced endorphin rush...

Who knows? Do I look like a brain surgeon to you?

Instead of taking a nap you should make a short walk outside in fresh air or splash some cold water in your face.

Taking caffeine pills is fighting the symptoms and is not constructive, so that's not a good idea.

Watch the sugar. It spikes your energy level then you get some major lows for hours on end.

This is probably the case. I drink a ton of Mt. Dew every day. I will try to drink a little healthier and see if that helps. Thanks.

It is probably just nerves. Not that you are scared to play, but that you might get a little excited to play. I have this issue as well sometimes, but it goes away after a while.

OP that's wierd, I have basically the same problem. Usually what does it for me is I immediately stop what I'm doing and open some tables up. Once I get dealt a few hands and get into grinding mode the sleepy feeling goes away.

I've taken caffiene pills and they only help me moderately. Adderall actually helps a lot if you can get it. I'm thinking of trying some redbull out and see if it helps me.
