Re: Love it or leave it...put up or shut up...and other such sentiment
[ QUOTE ]
I think there is a fundamental difference between desiring policy changes (x policy is oppressive) vs. wanting system deconstruction (y system is oppressive.) [/ QUOTE ] Yes! The person who says "X policy is oppressive" generally follows it up with a suggestion for policy Z, which is also oppressive, but simply oppresses a different group. |

Re: Love it or leave it...put up or shut up...and other such sentiment
[ QUOTE ]
It's one thing if you don't like some of the outcomes of the current system and you don't do anything. It's quite another if you think the system itself is, at its very root, an oppressive one and you choose to live under it. [/ QUOTE ] I agree with the contention that market anarchists on this forum should be doing more than just sitting around talking about property rights, and I've said before when I've mentioned that in most explicitly anarchist projects I've been involved in, they are mostly anarcho-socialists involved. However,AFAIK you don't know any of the market anarchists on this board personally, so you don't know what they are doing politically outside of here. There's far more effective ways to fight oppression than moving somewhere else, especially when the oppression you are fighting is quite pervasive. |

Re: Love it or leave it...put up or shut up...and other such sentiment
"Love it or Leave it" is really based on the logic that there are worse place than here. But then that doesn't really change the reality of things. I should not tolerate a ban on online gambling just because in other countries they would have shot me for making a post about the government.
There is no point in stating that your [censored] smells better than other people's [censored], because in the end it is still [censored] you are talking about. P.S. It is precisely the reason that if one loves something, then they won't leave it. They will try to change it. |

Your first paragraph is true. Your second is not.
