8/9s great flop great turn horrible river
$1/$2 BB is a very LAG player. The reason he has all his chips is that he caught a 3 outer on the river for broadway cracking a set of kings.
SB: $110 BB: $600 UTG: $245 CO: $200 BTN (hero): $375 Preflop: Hero is dealt: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG bets $8 , CO calls , Hero calls , SB calls , BB calls Flop: ($40) 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Table checks to you, Hero bets $25 ,SB folds, BB calls , UTG folds, CO folds Turn: ($90) K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] BB bets $30 , Hero raises to $90 , BB calls River:($270) A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] BB checks Hero does what? Just accept that this hand is almost definitely lost or do I try to push him out and hope he was chasing something? Are there any bets anywhere where I could have done this better? |

Re: 8/9s great flop great turn horrible river
The only thing you beat now is JT or 76, may as well check, he's not really folding anything he got to the river with.

Re: 8/9s great flop great turn horrible river
If you hope he was chasing something, there is no point in betting since you have showdown value. This seems like an easy river check.
Does anyone like a larger flop bet and a turn raise - I certainly do. |

Check back river here. Maybe raise more on turn. WHat convertor is this?

There is no value in betting. If villian was chasing and you check behind, you win.

Re: 8/9s great flop great turn horrible river
Thanks for the responses. I agree now that 5 handed the flop bet was too much of a suck bet. How much should I have raised on the turn though? I thought that anything he was folding for 90-120 dollars he would fold for 60 more too. If he didn't fold and I bet that much I would have probably found myself all in. Should I have just pushed on the turn?

34ish on flop, and a bigger raise on turn.. shoving is too much of an overbet though when you're that deep.

Re: 8/9s great flop great turn horrible river
pretty much his entire range here is hands that wont fold, or hands that you beat
aka, Ax (or 88/99 although those are unlikely) or JT or 76 what else would he have here? just check |

[ QUOTE ]
try to push him out and hope he was chasing something? [/ QUOTE ] if he was chasing something then you have the best hand now most of the time, so betting accomplishes nothing, it folds worse hands, but better hands call |
