I don't own a barbecue. Got some beautiful stakes cooking right now. Gonna put a fried egg on it and have with salad.

Quick question, kind of off-topic..

Can anyone point me towards a new grill to buy? I don't need anything state of the art or expensive as I just need one for basic grilling purposes. Is there any difference in quality between grills, or any brands to stay away from?

This is my grill, got the recommendation from Cook's Illustrated. On this site they mention that it was on Good Eats too, but I don't remember it. It is a bit high end though:

Just checked Cook's again and for a Best Buy they recommend the Weber One-Touch Gold at 149.99

I've never made ribs before, so I hope I don't let my guests down. I am Going to cook them low and slow in the oven then finish them on the charcoal grill. Any other rib cooking secrets I should know?

[/ QUOTE ]

parboil the ribs in salted water. then finish on grill for taste. when serving plenty of people on limited cooking space and time, this is the way to compromise.
