Hanley's road OPS was .923 in case anyone is wondering. He also happens to be a leadoff hitter.

[/ QUOTE ]

and he is awesome. and his team sucks. if he was on a good team he probably had a great shot of winning the award.

Holliday's road #s
.301 11hrs 55rbi .485 slugging .860 OPS

double those and tell me if he didnt play at Coors he was an MVP candidate

[/ QUOTE ]

A road OPS of .860 isn't out of line with some MVP winners (see: 2007 NL MVP).

[/ QUOTE ]

oh one more thing here jeremy. An .860 OPS for a leadoff hitting shortstop and a .860 OPS for an outfielder is like night and day. The .860 probably puts rollins second among league shortstops i assume (behind hanley), while the .860 probably puts Holliday about 15th or 20th for outfielders

By the way, I hate Rollins with a passion. But he deserves the MVP imho

well to me this is an individual award...the most valuable player as in one player. I know others dont see it that way though.

this is true. His is .859. And he is a leadoff hitter.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you are going to excuse his numbers because he is a leadoff hitter, shouldn't you also punish him for having a mediocre OBP for a leadoff hitter?

his .344 OBP is subpar for a leadoff man -- but he still led the league in runs scored and stole 41 bases

I'm a big Wright fan and eagerly await the day a Met can win the MVP. But I would have voted against him this year.

He was fine in September and a beast in August. But he simply cannot avoid the taint of the collapse.

[/ QUOTE ]
So its David Wright's fault his teammates collapsed? This a very weak argument. I didn't expect David Wright to win because the BBWAA is retarded, but not voting for him because his teammates collapsed makes no sense.

As for Hanley he's very good but terribly defensively, Even if he was on a good team is defense is so bad it would pretty tough to consider him MVP.
