Discuss [/ QUOTE ] Recently there's more discussion of ingredients before the final call. Also, the winner of the last contest picks the ingredient for the next. Also, there's usually an end-date. Also, we're still in the middle of Battle Catfish. I'm definitely glad you're interested in ICOOT, but maybe declaring another contest wasn't the way to go. -Sam |

Fennel battle was on TV tonight [/ QUOTE ] Wow. Obviously I assume all IC is ICOOT. I never watch the show 'live', so didn't see the timing. Also, I'm not very bright. -Sam |

Re: Iron Chef 1/28/07 Battle Fennel
Actually one of the best Iron Chef Americas I've ever seen. The challengers were great chefs and Batali is by far the best Iron Chef, all the food looked amazing. The challengers food actually was much more impressive, but the judges seemed to give huge points to Batali on taste.

Re: Iron Chef 1/28/07 Battle Fennel
I thought the challengers were retarded. It's not hard to make stuff with fennel in it taste like fennel, and it would seem that they didn't.
Batali is very good at this, because he finds a way to make fennel the focus of the dishes. Other people just tend to make whatever and throw it on top. |

Re: Iron Chef 1/28/07 Battle Fennel
Jeff,
I haven't watched a ton of ICAs but this was one of the tougher ones for me. Usually, I can imagine what the dishes are like. Here, where the main criticisms tended to be about the level of "fennel-ness" of the dishes, it was very tough to imagine those differences. |
