Re: What\'s your opinion on Michael Moore?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Private companies shouldn't have an obligation to keep people employeed. It's government's job to sustain them once a company, in holding to the obligation it has towards it's owners/shareholds has to lay them off to save/make more money. Thats pretty commie. [/ QUOTE ] The definition of lefty is pretty different in the US than here in Europe, but believing in a basic welfare system, in this instance the government paying a minimal unemployment benefit (?) is commie? [/ QUOTE ] Anything that doesn't agree with the republicans is commie. [/ QUOTE ] You're definitely showing a small brain on this one. Maybe you don't know that communism is a form of socialism, not just some empty insult, as you appear to think it is. I don't think there's anything more socialist than a major national welfare system. It most definitely is not the government's job to make sure everyone has a job. WTF? Get off your ass and have some responsibility for your own damned self. Sweden does pretty well for itself, but they're the exception. Look at every other socialist or communist country in the world, even respectable major countries like France. They're all easily outperformed by the United States. Also, to the right-winger who wishes the right had their own Moore: I think the right would be much, much, MUCH better off with an equivalent to Jon Stewart. Moore does more harm than good - to all sides and to America as a whole. |

Re: What\'s your opinion on Michael Moore?
[ QUOTE ]
Moore comes off not looking too good [/ QUOTE ] Oh really? I remember reading on his site michaelmoore.com the debunking of the debunkers about F 9/11, not only that, I remember there were a extensive list of quotes, articles, and research about the facts on F 9/11. Usually I found pretty pathetic the attempts to discredit the movie. I'm pretty sure the republican machine and all their millions tried pretty hard, and the "liberal" media (note to the naive people, if I use "liberal" instead of liberal I'm being ironic ) gave them plenty of TV time to do it. I'm pretty sure in the past years Moore has been painted pretty bad by the media, and I'm talking here about ABC,NBC,CBS,CNN. But of course for some of you guys if you didn't hear that Michael is complete garbage and the Antichrist like you hear on FOX; you thought they were saying good things about him. |

Re: What\'s your opinion on Michael Moore?
I'm curious to see what people here think of Moore's choice to make Lila Lipscomb's son's death in Iraq such a central piece to the film.

Christopher Hitchen's take on Fahrenheit 9/11. Eloquent and vicious, as only hitchens can be. |

[/ QUOTE ] If you'd bother to read the link I gave earlier, they address all those. They give him credit where it's due, but he apparently ignores a lot of points where they show he manipulated or quoted out of context. Here's another one, in "Bowling for Columbine", when he goes and tries all those doors in the Canadian town to show that Canadians feel safer, apparently about 40% of the doors were locked. He doesn't show that in the film. He's never responded to inquiries on that one. Apparently he only quotes the facts he likes and ignores the ones he doesn't. |
