Default set, scary board, big pot

$1/$2 UB 6-max LHE

villain is a spazz, i think - BBB tells me that he's a fish but isn't too specific. i assume that means LAGG and so far, it makes sense. he's also running over the table, fwiw. all the hands that are ahead of us i assume three-bet pre-flop except for maybe K9 and 89 and i dont think those raise the flop.

Chun li is UTG with 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Pre-flop:
Chun li raises, one fold, CO calls, three folds

(5.5 sb)

Flop:
Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Chun li bets, CO raises, Chun li calls

(4.75 bets)

Turn:
T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Chun li checks, CO bets, Chun li raises, CO three-bets, Chun li caps, CO calls

(12.75 bets)

River:
K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Chun li bets, CO raises, Chun li folds ...

This is posted twice because different people patrol different forums. dont flame me, just ignore it if you hafta read it twice okay

Dont fold sets in 12bb pots and dont fold sets to spazzy lags. Pf is also a fold for me.

From the description this guy doesn't look like the check it though type. c/c

You can't fold the way you played it either.

re pf: I like it if this hand was higher, but the rake and loose play at this level are really going to hurt 44 here IMO.

all,

given the action on the turn, we can't fold? i know we have a set but villain seemed pretty convinced (apparently) that they were good, even after the turn action and the scary board.

i dunno, i dont like big folds but do spazzes really raise broadway boards without the straight?

The thing is that the river didn't really change much. If he's vastly over played AQ, he now has you. Besides that he either had you already or he didn't and doesn't. With the pf CC, QJ/QT/JT make way too much sense here to fold.

fold PF, bet/3bet the turn, c/c the river.

At least you got the flop right.

Don't fold Sets HU on the river in 12BB to anyone. It's not that hard of a game.

thehip41,

i appreciate your advice very much. you are of the impression that i can't fold a set to anybody HU in a pot this size? what if the river also made a flush? what if there were 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]s on the board?

given the turn action, i feel like we should be okay folding bottom set at some point against even the loosest players ...

any idea where that point is? your posts seems to assume it doesn't exist.

thanks,
bbbushu

I think his point more generally is that you don't need to put yourself in this spot and that you don't don't gain enough from the bet to justify the risks.
