100NL: Hands From Session Review
Mike and I just finished our session review, and we were a bit iffy on a couple hands. We both play a similar style, so it's probably best to get some input from a bunch of different styles. Just assume no reads on these, as they are pretty general questions.
Hand 1: Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.50/$1 Blinds - 9 Players SB: $163.05 BB: $20.00 UTG: $82.60 UTG+1: $97.45 MP1: $181.65 MP2: $109.65 MP3: $104.45 CO: $85.00 Hero (BTN): $111.95 Preflop: Hero is dealt 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (9 Players) UTG folds, UTG+1 calls $1.00, 4 folds, Hero (BTN) ??? I think an argument can be made for all three options here. Hand 2: Ultimate Bet - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.50/$1 Blinds - 9 Players SB: $14.85 BB: $111.35 UTG: $99.10 UTG+1: $80.55 MP1: $109.50 MP2: $54.65 MP3: $106.00 Hero (CO): $100.00 BTN: $230.05 Preflop: Hero is dealt Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (9 Players) UTG raises to $3.50, 4 folds, Hero (CO) ??? Folding seems weak. 3bet or cold call the UTG raiser? |

Re: 100NL: Hands From Session Review
Hand 1: Depends on the stats of the players in the blinds.
Hand 2: Fold. UTG raises are better than AQ a lot of the time. If there were cold callers in between you and the raiser, I may also cold call. |

Re: 100NL: Hands From Session Review
Hand 1: IMO, there are only 2 options, raise or fold. Calling just shows inferiority. I'd make it 4 or 5xBB and punish the limper.
Hand 2: Call and evaluate flop. Folding with position is poor. I do 3-bet this maybe 1 of every 4 times. |

hand 1 isolate, this guys hand isnt very good and you can play this hand really profitably in position
hand 2 fold your not going to be able to make up the value vs utg raiser despite having position especially HU |

[/ QUOTE ] Hand 2: You should probably never raise here without a villain-specific reason to. Calling vs. folding is probably pretty borderline... obviously knowing your opponent's stats is paramount for this decision, but versus a complete unknown, I'd say it just depends on how confident you are in your postflop game. Also depends on your image a little bit if the villain has reads on you. |

On hand 2, what changes if the UTG raiser is your typical 40/12 donk?

Re: 100NL: Hands From Session Review
I'll raise this and if I'm not re-raised I'm winning the hand about 75% of the time (at least). Position vs. OOP limper..with a decent hand..I love playing this!?...
I don't have many hands at 100NL, but raising in position vs. a limper works very well at up to at least 50NL..and so far 100NL as well. |
