Uploading videos that aren't MPEG or AVI?

I've got a little video camera that records onto tiny DVD discs. The camera has to "finalize" the discs before any DVD player will able to read them.

I've got video on two discs. One has been "finalized", and the other hasn't.

When I put the finalized disc in my computer, and click on "My Computer" to see the file names, they look like this:

I was hoping to upload some of these clips to YouTube, but YouTube needs MPEG or AVI or formats like that.

Is there a way to transfer mine into MPEG?

(Looks like I'm buying a memory card for this thing.)

As for the disc that hasn't been "finalized", my computer is unable to read it. I don't suppose that matters, does it?

AutoGK does a good job at converting DVDs to AVI.
