Yeah, this is an instapush. if you dont feel comfortable in a tournament setting, pick up some harrington books.

Must be way way too used to deep-stacked cash games.

Hit the nail right on the head.
My main problem with tournaments has always been these bubble situations.
From what I understand, bubble play is what separates the winners from the losers.

[/ QUOTE ]

The only MTT bubble play that seperates winners from losers is stealing blinds from those that think they're playing the bubble well by being uber tight.

makes me want to watch that video on cardplayer interviewing the guy who folded pocket aces 3 times on the bubble in one of those major live tourneys...

Well, from all the replies i got here it seems that most people think I am a total idiot.
I know that it may have seemed a stupid question but surely that is what the forums are for - even to answer stupid questions.
As I said earlier - I am newish to MTTs so I want to be sure of my play.

As a final point yes, I did push and yes, I have read HOH1, HOH2 and HOH3. Still doesn't hurt to ask.

umm no bubble play is like irrelevant in most mtt cases. I doubt you are a winning cash player after this post. anyone with basic poker knowledge knows this is insta

[/ QUOTE ]

what? yeah, in a tourney with that stack, push is easy. in a cash game, insta-pushing with jj is going to lose an assload of money. there is no need to berate him because he is used to playing cash games.

Welcome to the forums.

Yep, 7 bbs, shove that puppy. Probably shove 77+, A9s, A10 off as well.

Read hoh 2 a few more times, esp the pages on the red zone.

Yes, you will feel like a deranged psychotic lunatic when you are shoving like this, but thats the way short stacked goes!

So many people try to fold into the money, and bubble out, or get their money back

The way to win money in mtts is simply to get into the top couple of places. And the way you do that is by winning all the chips. And the way you do that is by getting aggro as the bubble approaches.

[/ QUOTE ]Don't you think he should open up even more? He has ~5K when the average is ~10K with only one other guy shortstacked.

I would push here as well. 9 handed table I may not warrant a push (though it's not the worst idea either) ....

[/ QUOTE ]

This is definitely still a push even at a 9-handed table. M is a smidge under 4, it's time to dance. Push your hooks, get looked up by a big stack's AT, double up, ungh, ungh.

Sorry you busted out.

What other plays besides pushing did you consider here?

I don't think raising 3xBB is bad, but if I di that I would never fold this hand at any point.
