That's the joke at least.... the truth is until 1988 the school was known as North Texas State University and the radio station was KNTU. My freshman year ('89) was the first year the name was changed to Univ. of North Texas. No, they didn't change the station name, but almost on a monthly basis the sign outside the campus building housing "KNTU" was defaced in an entirely predictable mannor.
