When I saw this yesterday I was glad to find the BBV mods were taking steps to prevent racism in here. And if they think certain things are becoming a problem, I trust they are right.

I believe gildwulf appreciates BBV as much as anyone who has ever posted here, and he always tries to do what's best for the forum and 2+2. That should never be overlooked in these discussions. The BBV mods aren't out to shape the forum to fit their own sensibilities. They're trying to keep it good for everyone.

Some of you may already know that I can be pretty strict about this stuff. But for the most part I'm perfectly happy to let the BBV greens handle most of it. Still, I won't hesitate to get more involved and start banning people for longer if it seems like the rules aren't being followed.

Forums can be funny. Offensive or not, certain phrases and insults catch on fast here. That the mods are trying to stop a trend towards more and more racist posts and 'humor' isn't a bad thing to the admins, and I can't really see why it would be to many of you either. They've taken a reasonable approach. I hope you guys will be reasonable too.

So this hasn't been directly addressed by a green / red.

Clearly, its now against policy to insult blacks and Jews. How about general racism targeted at Whites, Asians, Latinos, Arabs and other races, or religions. Is "Cracker Plz" gonna get us banned, or how about. "Damn Mexicans, they took arrrr jobs". General insults towards Africans. What about the poor and working class? Ageism cool? How about insults toward homosexuals, the blatant sexism in many threads or the occasional insult towards the disabled. Even though I think the whole thing is ridiculous, these should be taken under the same zero tolerance blanket.

Either way this is a sad, sad day for 2p2 on a whole. BBV was always the best forum on the site because it lived on the edge. It was great because it possessed the same humor that shows like South Park and Ali G play off week after week. But now it seems that has come to an end, and it probably won't be too long till BBV becomes just another boring OOT clone again. Everyone now has to be careful about everything they say and that is sad. By making things a taboo, in the long run you’re adding to the problem.

BBV is dead. Long live BBV.

(Edit) Cliff Notes: Can we make fun of gays, whites, latinos, women, the disabled, africans, poor people, muslims, arabs, bible bashers, indians, the working class, senior citizens, the illiterate and uneducated, etc?
