Default Foxwoods Debate: Can you straddle as the kill

At Foxwoods last weekend this debate came up at the 5/10 kill table. A player who was UTG had just won the previous hand which was enough to make a kill pot. He announced straddle, the dealer said it was fine, someone at the table called the floor who said there can be a straddle in a kill pot but not if that person is the kill blind. Is this correct? The table was pretty much split 50/50 (not that it matters once the floor voices their opinion). I guess I understand the advantage someone may think they are getting because people typically attack the kill and this would make them call 20 cold. Anyways, does anyone have any experience with this situation?
