Yeah I agree with this. The part when Meredith called Jim "Michael" just felt like they were making absolutely sure that even the most clueless 1% of the audience got the joke.

Don't be retarded. Phyllis calling Jim "Michael" was so Jim would realize he's acting like Michael.

6. let us know SOMETHING about how pam/jim's relationship is going.

I'm actually very happy with how they're showing the relationship. I don't want this to turn into Friends or some other relationship show. They show enough for us to know they're getting along well, without having to waste time each episode talking about it.

I didn't think this episode was great, certainly not bad, but my least favorite this season. Maybe its because I hate office birthday parties so I strongly sided with Jim.

Exactly. The point of all the stuff Jim was doing wasn't to "get across the point" that he was turning into Michael... the whole joke was that he was turning into Michael without even realizing it. I thought the way he started ripping into Toby was hilarious. Then the look on Jim's face after Phyllis called him Michael was my favorite moment in the episode.

I think one possible problem is the fact that I did not know whether the all in one birthday party would be a bad idea or not. I thought if Michael's birthday parties were all really that terrible the people might like not having a party when michael is back for one year. It took me a while to figure out that it was supposed to be a very dumb idea, probably b/c I have negative experience in an actual office. Until having it fully realized that it is a terrible idea, that plot line kind of sucked.

It was a good episode def. but not its best episode. I do love that last scene with Michael and Jim, how it just makes him seem like a regular and normal guy. Scenes like that definitely makes him likeable as a character. It's the ridiculous scenes that make him annoying.

I liked the episode overall, but the Michael/Dwight scenes in the wilderness were definitely off, and I'm a huge Michael fan. The writing just wasn't up to par.

The office scenes, and of course the last scene, were all very good.
