A recent Razz Hand
Im new here and I want to say hi to everyone!
But onto business... I recently played in a HU SNG in Razz. Razz is my best game and HU is where I do the best. The following hand threw me for a loop and I was wondering how far ahead I was before he hit 2 running cards to beat me. Tournament - Razz (60/120), Ante 10, Bring-In 20 (converter) Hero: 1,082 Seat 2: 1,918 3rd Street - (0.33 SB) Hero: 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___completes___raises Seat 2: xx xx 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___brings-in___raises___calls 4th Street - (6.33 SB) Hero: 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___bets___raises Seat 2: xx xx 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___raises___calls 5th Street - (6.17 BB) Hero: 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___bets Seat 2: xx xx 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___calls 6th Street - (8.17 BB) Hero: 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___bets___raises___calls Seat 2: xx xx 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___raises___raises River - (16.17 BB) Hero: 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___bets 112 (all-in) Seat 2: xx xx 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] xx___calls Total pot: (18.03 BB - 2,164) Results (in red):<font color="red"> Total pot 2,164 | Rake 0 Note: this site shuffles the hole cards. Re: A recent Razz Hand
I might not jam third, but what are you thinking you did wrong? You got a bunch of money in on third, fourth, fifth, and sixth with the best hand, and the other guy sucked out. Pretty routine.

Well you can runs sims here or here. But to answer your question, on 5th street giving him the best two hole cards: 87543 91.67% 615,606 54 9663A 8.33% 55,920 54 [/ QUOTE ] Thanks for posting the links here Andy, they are both terrific tools for estimating equity. Sorry you got sucked out on Al... it's about the same as your opponent having 2 outs on the flop in HE and sucking out after you go all-in. |

Funny thing is, this happens every day for me. [/ QUOTE ] As it does to all good players, assuming you play enough hands. You were an 11:1 favorite here, meaning even if your odds were that dominant on every hand, you'd lose 1 out of 12 times. If you play 120 hands each day, you'd still lose 10 times on average. Most suckouts in razz (and even in high only games) are when the underdog is 2:1 or 3:1 against, so will happen much more often then that. As long as you can win often enough to beat the rake, eventually you'll come out ahead. Just repeat that 100 times in your head next time you take a bad beat |

Re: A recent Razz Hand
Foley...
To quote Bobby Baldwin, winning poker player and casino mogul: "I've heard good players complain to me about how they get drawn out on all the time. But if they want to better their game and better their emotional state while playing, they should realize it's a mirage. If you are an excellent player, people are going to draw out on you a lot more than you're going to draw out on them because they're simply going to have the worst hand against you a lot more times than you have the worst hand against them. There's no way you're going to draw out on anybody if you don't get all your money in there on the worst hand." This was after a tourney in 1981, Hold'em I think, but it can apply to most forms of poker, and this particular situation. Don't worry about suck-outs, it happens, just keep your head straight and try not to tilt over it. |
