Default bad spot for being nasty?

15/30 6-handed, Pacific Poker

Villain 40/14/1,2

We're deep in the session, and what I've played so far should have looked just solid. As villain was two to my left I had a closer look at some hands where he defended his BB and saw that despite his low AF he regularly checkraises/pushes his draws against steals from the button.

Hero opens from the button with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 1 fold, BB calls

Flop 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

check, bet, raise, call

Turn Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

bet, raise, call

River 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

check, bet, call

Villain shows 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

In the end I was surprised to be beaten by a pair of deuces (thought he would have folded hands like that). Did I pick the wrong opponent to not fold the flop and become nasty or was this spot just too obvious for him to believe me?

Save those free showdown raises for when you have a showdownable hand.

Is it worth it to call the turn sometimes in the hope he is check folding a busted draw on the river?

no... dear god just fold the turn.

there are so few drawy type hands that will miss enough of the time and then c/f the river to make it profitable.

it would have to be 3x (x being small and not pairing) that misses
6x(x being small and not pairing)
or spades that are small, dont pair.

i think the equity of him having those three hands, missing then checking the river giving up is not even close to enough to warrant calling the turn to take the pot away on the river. calling the turn is burning money
