Default Stud hi - buried aces in multiway pot - linecheck

No reads except player left of me is a huge showdown-monkey who bets if the button is presented to him.

Is this standard? Checking fifth?

You want to bet 5th to give all of the people who called for the cheap cards a chance to fold for the expensive cards. A lot of people will call with a small pair until 5th, but fold if they haven't improved.

If you don't get anyone to drop with the 5th street bet, go ahead and check 6th.

bet 5th raise 6th. You raise here to get seat 3 out, and even if you are behind on 6th, you want to drive people out in stud. If he did hit two pair you still have a chance to hit aces up like you did on the river. Besides raising 6th will likely make him check so you get a free card anyway and the chance to get that extra bet in if you do hit aces up. If not you can always check call or fold.

Btw normally you don't have to raise 6th if you bet 5th, since no one will raise you.

Bet 5th. The hand plays different from there.

I like your check. You need to improve. See what 6th brings, I like your position for a CR if the hand improves. If 3 way its a MUST bet on 5th. A J door card is always bothersome when he gets connecting cards on 4th and 5th, and he knows you R with a 7 on 3rd. He could be setting up a CR to your PP on 5th, he's got perfect position. 6th sets up fairly nice for you because he must act first, he's not thinking CR on 6th if he has the goods. I generally assume a passive J on 3rd has a 10 or Q. So your check allows you a cheap fold, a free SD for the Aces or a potential BIGGEE.

Fifth street is your best chance to get people to fold after third street. They can't fold if you don't bet. Everything else looks good.
