First time dealing for a casual tournament
I wasn't sure whether to post this in B&M or Home Poker; if it clearly belongs in the other, please move it accordingly.
Today, I was asked to be a dealer for a weekly Texas Hold'em tournament played at the Enlisted Club (i live/work on an Air Force Base). I've dealt before for some home games, but never in a "more serious" environment; from playing in this tournament before, the players are for the most part decidedly casual, but still prefer things to be done right. Like I said, I have a bit of experience in terms of home games. I don't have a problem counting bet amounts, reading the board, and physically shuffling/dealing, but I'm a bit nervous that there might be a confrontation that I haven't encountered before. If anyone has gone through something like this before; if you've got any tips for avoiding common errors or confrontations between players, something I should be more nervous about than others. I'm not really a "people person" and haven't been exposed to many new people over the past several months. I think I'm just nervous about accidentally screwing up and having a player berate me for it. If anyone has any advice for dealing in your first semi-serious setting, I would really appreciate it. |
