Default NL 200: TT in 3-bet pot facing flop MR

Villain just sat down like an orbit ago...but his MR pre leans me to believe he's donkish. No other reads whatsoever.

Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $1/$2 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter)

Hero (SB): $222.95
BB: $76.95
UTG: $200.00
MP: $216.00
CO: $213.50
BTN: $159.70

Preflop: Hero is dealt T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (6 Players)
2 folds, CO raises to $4.00, BTN calls $4.00, Hero raises to $25.00, BB folds, CO calls $21.00, BTN folds

Flop: ($56) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero bets $37.00, CO raises to $74.00, Hero?

Well, I know this is a pretty easy fold against most...but it does beg the question. Why are we betting if we're almost always folding to a raise? Not saying I can think of a better line, but turning TT into a bluff kinda sucks.

I run into the same problem with JJ too. If I'm 3betting with the higher end of the medium pairs, then I should be happy to see a low flop. So why does every flop without a set scare the hell out of me?

we arent bluffing, worse will call and we're betting for protection. They wont always raise. When they raise it's a different situation and we can fold against an unknown, doesnt mean b/f turns our hand into a bluff

Against a sane player, we get value from what...66/88? Maybe sometimes A9s/9Ts if they tend to call 3-bets light, but the point is still kinda the same. Protecting from over-cards seems like one of the better reasons, but this bet just doesn't seem to extract much from worse very often IME. I also agree they won't always raise here, but a flat call can be just as scary...and now we end up lost OOP in a bloated pot. I still think betting is probably best, but it's just kind of a weird spot that seems to come up fairly often w/ 99-JJ.
