Interesting Spot vs Apestyles in 100R (SB BB)
I posted this on PocketFives yesterday and I was just curious to see what you guys think as well.
PokerStars Game #11474775826: Tournament #57897765, $100+$9 Hold'em No Limit - Level VII (150/300) - 2007/08/13 - 21:39:32 (ET) Table '57897765 3' 9-max Seat #5 is the button Seat 1: Randers (6015 in chips) Seat 2: THE__D__RY (8948 in chips) Seat 3: Tmay420 (14392 in chips) Seat 4: bastet2004 (7170 in chips) Seat 5: plattsburgh (3471 in chips) Seat 6: apestyles (17459 in chips) Seat 7: Roothlus (21890 in chips) Seat 8: jpapola (11525 in chips) Seat 9: bd3109 (7405 in chips) Randers: posts the ante 25 THE__D__RY: posts the ante 25 Tmay420: posts the ante 25 bastet2004: posts the ante 25 plattsburgh: posts the ante 25 apestyles: posts the ante 25 Roothlus: posts the ante 25 jpapola: posts the ante 25 bd3109: posts the ante 25 apestyles: posts small blind 150 Roothlus: posts big blind 300 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to Roothlus [8c 8s] jpapola: folds bd3109: folds Randers: folds THE__D__RY: folds Tmay420: folds bastet2004: folds plattsburgh: folds apestyles: raises 900 to 1200 Both of us have pretty healthy stacks and I know Apestyles can be a loose cannon at times but he hasn't done anything out of line yet. We haven't tussled much but I do think he thinks he can run over me. Also what is his 4xing range here? How am I supposed to approach this spot? I don't really like smooth calling but with both our stacks so deep, reraising doesn't seem great either. It just seems like a really sketchy spot. What's your approach? |

Re: Interesting Spot vs Apestyles in 100R (SB BB)
i sat to apestyles' left for like an hour and a half in a tourney about 2 weeks ago. that was my only experience with him (obvi know who he is though) directly. with that said, he showed down a total of 0 cards.
i vote push/call/raise/fold/call time/time out/sit out next hand/uncheck auto post blinds. |

Re: Interesting Spot vs Apestyles in 100R (SB BB)
3250
rationale: he can't 4 bet you light because it would obviously be a huge error to put 60 bets with say, 22 here . There's no real amount he can reraise that doesn't commit him, so this awkward stack size helps you. So if he 4 bets you here, you are probably crushed, unless this is a $200r where people are batshit crazy and will 4bet with any two. |

Call and flop a set.

Re: Interesting Spot vs Apestyles in 100R (SB BB)
i think raise/fold is superior
obviously it depends on his range, if he is really tight for 4x-ing here, you are just going to get 4bet insta. in that case, calling is good because you can flop a set and stack his tight range easily. but probably he has something you are good against. if you raise/fold you lose less to hands that crush you, which is a plus. |

Oh and roothlus, MTT community is where ppl post random stuff about mtts, sweat threads etc - there is a 'high stakes MTT' section for strategy and hands etc.
You'd get more responses/views if you posted hands in there, and his will probably be moved there anyway where a mod see it |
