Default depression (gambling and life)

When you become depressed about poker and life in general what have some of you guys done to kind of break the slump?
I've been in a rut for about 1 year now and it's starting to show to ME finally. Any help would be appreciated!!!

- thanks

I picked up a new hobby, Golf.
Not sure how old you are but I started thinking about my future (gonna be 30 this year, so i need to hurry). i.e. take the CPA exam, start thinking about my career and how I can improve it.

As for poker, I realized that I am not a winning player and I can't be like many of the 2+2er's here who live off there poker income or there poker income supplements there current income. This mean, giving up online poker and local b&m poker. strictly recreational player now.

good luck to you.

I beat the dog, j/k.

Nah when I get in a rut ( i wont use the term depressed because i used to suffer from depression and it wasnt from poker related things ), but when I get in a rut , I try new things that I couldnt normally try or have always wanted to , just to mix it up.

I also take breaks to clear my head, maybe read a old poker book to remember somethings i forgot. I also take the time to exercise sometimes....not as much as I should but i thinkia bout it!

Positive visualization, i cant stress itenough.

Maybe prozac also....and a therapist...mine did wonders for me in life and in poker life.

Imo, depression is as normal as happiness, it is just a part of life.

AlanBostick made a great post on the 20'th that you should read and can applie to your life. If the link doesn't work, it is about changing a judgemental trait. Excellent post, one of the best on this forum.
