I probably would have just floated his flop bet since we're in position. But I don't think this would be a good call unless you just like to gamble. JJ+, AKs are all in his range.

Agreed. You have some nice implied odds if you hit your K or 8. I think this is just a call as we do not want to re-open betting if he has an overpair.If he has overs he may just very well check the turn and then we can take it away anyways.

No, this is a fold, the math is rather simple:
It will cost you $39 to win a $69 pot. That means you need a 1.7 to 1 chance or better, or a 36% chance to win, in order to be profitable here. You have two cards to come here, lets figure you have 8 outs(all 8's & K's make a straight). The rules of 2 and 4 say with one card to come, 8 outs equals a 32% chance of getting there. 32% does not satisfy our 36% requirement. Muck the hand and tell him "nice Bet" |
