For all his faults the players like playing for Manuel. I don't think the same applies for Torre. Also Manuels main criticism here has been how he handled the pitching staff which really isn't fair since we had crap relievers and got crap results with them. Basically he had lots of wrong choices but none that were right.

Keep Manuel. Let Rowand walk (alot of people don't seem to understand that he's not worth the money he's going to get). If you can get a good deal on Lowell fine, but every FA signing should be quality arms for the bullpen. Or a SP but I don't think there are any worth having that will be available.

I agree with this 100%. I wouldnt mind Carlos Silva, but he is gonna make way too much money. I would love Mike Lowell, but he will also make too much. Just improve the bullpen, maybe get a 3rd baseman. Gonna be a boring and bad offseason I think.

we really only need one more piece to the pitching staff I think. get a quality starter (expensive) or a good closer (mo rivera?) and we are good. W/ a closer, we have hamels, myers, kendrick, lohse, eaton (YAY!) in the rotation with eaton being rotated out for random rookie call-ups. Or if we get a quality starter, leave myers in the pen w/ romero, and madson setting up for him. I dont' mind giving one quality pitcher a 30 mil contract and spending other money on a 3rd baseman.

just random thoughts, don't mind me...

[/ QUOTE ] I think Dontrell Willis is a FA. I would offer him the world.

If they signed him I'm willing to keep Dobbs/Nunez @ third & have Victorino/Bourn/Werth handle CF/RF.

Also I think it might be time to lock up Howard before he gets ticked with his $1 mil a year.

There wasn't any way they could not resign him, I don't think. The risk would be pretty high WRT to pissing off the players, who seem to like him.

Plus they finished so well, it would look bad for the organization:

Lohse is a free agent. He's gone. Romero is also a free agent. They've got to get him resigned though. Imperative.

Let's just get Arod and be done with it.

Add Dontrelle too. Heck you know how those Phillies owners spend money, they ballas! Dave Montgomery just shells out cash. We got nothing to worry about!

Best offensive infield in baseball.

I love Schilling, but I really hope they don't try and throw money at him. There really are no options for starting pitchers.
