While I'm fine with most vodka based shots, I haven't found vodka good in a drink. Vodka7, lime, tonic, pineapple, none of it.

I tried seeing if rum & coke would grow on me, but it really isn't. My problem might be that the bartender is a good friend and he's pouring them extra strong. If you call that a problem.

I think what I'm looking to do is branch out of standard vodka/j&c/etc and try a different liquor altogether. How many of you would recommend gin, and someone else said cognac? Are there many other whiskey drinks worth trying?

Oh, tried a martini, didn't like it. Damn.

You can't go to a college bar and order cognac. That's like going to a strip club and asking for Jessica Alba. Sure, they'll bring out Jessika Ulba from Ukraine, but it's not the same.

Scotch. If you must mix it, try scotch and water or scotch and soda with a lemon wedge.

Gin with sprite or tonic and a splash of cranberry juice. Add a lime and ure all set.

Or just get Hennessy.

Amaretto Sour sounds like the drink for you. Also a Creamsicle (Vanilla Vodka and OJ) is a good one

When you become a man just drink the vodka with a splash of soda and a twist

Well, any old brandy + ginger ale will do fine for these purposes.

how come you didn't start drinking untill you were 21? (this is a serious question. not trying to rag on you. just curious)

I was going to suggest the vodka tonic or gin and tonic but you said you don't like those.

Alcohol is an acquired taste, so i suggest giving it time. Keep trying beer (good beer not bud light) it will grow on you. Liquor is the same way.

Why didn't I drink? CUZ ES ILLEGAL

Really though, I can't really give a definitive reason, and couldn't 6 months ago, either. Just never something I was interested in, and was fine never having tried. Then, when I was playing this weekly gig at a local bar, a beautiful girl was determined to share a mind eraser with me. Took a long while, but I caved.

We've been dating for 2 months.

xxxnoahxxx's suggestion sounds appealing. Is a mojito any good, and is it gay?

Something that hopefully tastes ok, not too high in sugar/calories, and is above all, cool. Ordering a whiskey sour is not cool.

To say something like that is above all, not cool...
