Hi all,

Sorry for the newb question, but is it highly common for sites to just cancel bets when they think they just f'ed themselves? I mean not allowing any more is 1 thing, but cancelling a bet already made shouldn't be allowed imo.

[/ QUOTE ]yea it is fairly common. unless the line is off a smallish amount. and i agree with your thoughts 100%

This is true. Course, they'd never cancel an unfair player line, but oh well.

I did get a $25 account credit for my trouble. Yay.

Yes, and this is exactly what they told me:

Bet shall be deemed to be invalid when:

* It is submitted later than the deadline
* It is completed erroneously or incorrectly
* It is a wager on an obvious line error

Told me it was a line error, I told them they shouldn't have posted it to begin with if it was an error, they keep telling me same crap. Oh well, no more betting on Bodog.

What is the outcry all about here? This happens with all sportsbooks. If they screw up and put up an obviously bad line, they will kill all the action. Standard..

Agreed, and the way to avoid getting yourself freerolled (i.e. they cancel when you when but not when you lose) is to contact them and confirm that you'll have action on that line, not bet into it and cross your fingers. If it's a bad line they'll usually put some pittance into your account as a reward.

the outcry for me at least is that bodog have ripped me off before, in general are a very disreputable company, and yet i was stupid enough to go back due to the huge ev of this bet.

im not angry with them, im angry with myself.

Thanks for the tip Dali, as usual you came thru with solid value win or lose. Unfortunately you set off the alarms by sharing as it probably got popped 50 times yesterday. Sometimes best to keep a good thing to yourself.

These clauses are supposed to protect themselves from posting clerical mistakes, not bad lines. Like posting the Yankees +300 vs KC by accident instead of -300, or posting Colts +14 vs the Texans. It's not supposed to protect them from their oddsmaker falling into the birthday trap (If you have 30 people in one room you are better than even money to have repeated birthdays, similar problem to multiple bracelets).

I play chess online, and occasionally people ask for takebacks. If they "mouseslipped" I'd consider giving them a takeback, but if they just make a bad move that's part of the game...

How did I respond to all this? I took the $50 that was refunded from the bet and bet it on the US to beat Ghana. I'm also very happy, because if I win the World Series this year (won the main event seat on Bodog...), I'll collect $2 extra from my $30 bet to win $2 on male to win.

go bet that a member of team bodog will make the final table, and you can collect some additional bucks on your way.
