Re: Week 3 Early Lines
I am in love w/ NYJ +6.
Bills have zero offense. They had 171 total yards this week, and got 10 of their 16 points off a long pass interference penalty and a blocked punt. 7 of their 17 in week 1 came on a first-play defensive TD. Jauron's play-calling is hilarious, although as bad as Losman is I don't blame him. Tony Siragusa might as well be the Bills' QB as little as they're asking of Losman. Quick hits, screen passes, handoffs, and that's really about it. I can imagine Dick Jauron spends many sleepless nights trying to figure out how he's gonna get through this season without asking Losman to make a single decision. His default 3rd-and-long play is a deep chuck ("Hey, if it gets picked, it's probably as good as a punt..."), or, if he's protecting a lead, he just hands off to McGahee for the 83rd straight play. Despite their stellar play against Miami, it also warrants mentioning that the Bills are starting FOUR rookies on defense. And I have a feeling Culpepper and the Fins' O-Line are gonna be making a lot of D's look good this year. The Bills could easily win a 10-7 ugly-fest at home, but I don't see them covering the 6. Game should be a -3 IMO. I'll be all over the Jets +6, Jets ML, the Under, and the Bills team under. |

I've never really done over/unders, but it's hard not to like the under in Carolina/Tampa Bay if Steve Smith were to not play again.

Re: Week 3 Early Lines
I guess I'm somehwere in the middle between you and the dillusional fans on the Bills board who think we're suddenly an above average team. The interference call wasn't just some cheap gift; it was a highly probable TD without blatant contact. Plus they had a TD taken away on a nittish offensive PI call. A lot of QB's have been worse than JP in the first two weeks, although granted, he is still a legitimate question mark until he shows he can beat the blitz consistently. Defensively, the young secondary is the real deal. The run defense is still a huge concern for me though; I thought Miami's playcalling was hideous and Ronnie Brown could've gotten 150 yards with enough carries. Fortunately the Jets don't appear to be a very good rushing team. Overall the 6 spot is a bit higher than the ~4 I anticipated, but it doesn't seem too far out of whack to me.

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ] He's had the advantage of holding a lead and not needing to actually do anything for all but the last 2 drives against NE, which combined to yield -1 total yards, this coming after he took a safety to blow the game. When the Bills finally get behind, they're gonna look like the Raiders IMO. Sack, Sack, INT, rinse, repeat. If the Jets get an early TD, they'll win easily. Bills down 2 possessions = game over (this goes for the entire JP Losman Era). |

Re: Week 3 Early Lines
True, he has had the benefit of playing with the lead. True, he looked bad in NE in the clutch. He's also played two good pass-rushing teams on the road. I don't think the game is over if they fall behind 7-0 to the Jets at home.
