Leatherman type tools are cool. The real deal, not the knockoffs. Even if it sits in a drawer most of the time, chances are it will be useful on occassion.
Also, odds of it ending up as a female sex toy are fairly slim.

edit: liquid beat me to it.

This is more than your price range but it seemed to go over well...I got my groomsmen Louisville Slugger bats with their signature engraved.

On the box?

You can get plastic coated cards custom at reasonable prices, but Kem or similar only do custom cards in large quantities.

Please tell me I'm wrong so I can buy some custom Kems immediately.

I just had my wedding and went with double gifts. I went with the traditional engraved mugs, but then I also got one personal gift for each also.

Two are huge into their alma maters (Notre Dame and Texas A&M) so I gave them framed pictures/plaques of their football stadiums that you can find at most sports memorabilia stores. The third was given poker themed tumblers, platter and snack dishes from Mikasa.

I started a similar thread about 2 months ago, and there were a bunch of good ideas (I'm sure you could find it with with a search). I ended up getting them each a 6-month membership to a beer club, but with shipping and all, that's not realistic for $30-$40. Went over real well though.

Here's the link: Good gifts for groomsmen?

Your beer club gift idea is great, but it does not appear in the thread.

Make sure that each is personalized. Don't give each person the same gift.
