Default bank roll...where to start....when to move up?

Starting with a bank roll of $100, what would be the best fixed limit game to start off in? And at what point do you consider yourself "beating" a certain limit...is there a standard to go by?

Thanks.

for limit the general rule is 300BB for your limit. so with 100, u could possibly start out at .25/.5 LHE,(200BB) and once you have a bankroll of 300$, you know you can beat that game, take shots at higher, rinse repeat...
but nothing is set in stone , just a general guideline.

Good advice, but if you do this don't be shy to move down limits if you hit a downswing. Good luck.

As the above poster said 300BB is considered a good bankroll for limit.

Set yourself a regime that you stick to throughout the levels.

Maybe move up when you have 250BB for the next level and move down when you have 200BB for your current level.

Some people say the high low split games are better for your bankroll such as seven card stud eight or better or omaha eight or better. This is because, often you will be exiting a hand early, freerolling to scoop the nuts, and sometimes taking at least half the pot.

On the other hand some of these games are full of experts, and even if you were an expert eight or better player you'd probably win more money playing donkey's at hold em than a table full of experts at eight or better. A lot of people don't meniton it, but table selection is just as important(if not more) than Banroll management.

That being said, of course--you must know how to play, and you must make decisions with +EV, otherwise your BR doesn't matter. Even the smallest leak will eventually suck up every last penny. I mean you can find some craps games where you only lose a fraction of a percentage. These are the games they advertize on Freemont st 100x odds and whatnot. The point is they're not giving anything away. Over a long enough time span, that tiny percentage will make you broke.

Ive read that for beginners, to make sure you spend enough time learning at each level that you should go 500BB. Every time you hit 500BB for the next level then move up, but if you drop down to the previous levels 500BB mark, then go back down and build up again.

This ensures you stay a proper amount at each level, and if you can build up to the next levels 500BB then you have beaten the current level. Also it keeps you far away from going BUSTO because even if you drop you still are bankrolled for 500BB at the level.
