I believe that is the way it's done here. Funny, but even playing for all these years it's just something that I rarely notice anymore so I might be totally wrong about it. I've been racking my brain trying to remember some examples and all I can think of is when you miss a blind you get a missed blind button and have to post both blinds with the SB being dead if you want to get back in. I just can't remember clearly when it happens to the person wanting to come back on the BB but I'm pretty sure it does. Maybe not at every cardroom though.

I think you are confused. There was a time when you had to make up missed collections (when there were collections on the button) when you posted the big blind. Back then if you missed everything you just came in with the big blind, but if you played the blind and then missed the collection you had to make up the collection whenever you came in even if you waited for the blind. I cleared out the management when I stated "that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard" after they left the DC told me it was dictated by the city and that I should not tell the management of the casino that they have dumb rules.

I know that's the right answer. I just needed backup.

We, At Horseshoe Tunica, just changed our rules in regards to missing the blinds and the straddle. In a 2-5 game you can straddle from any position including the button. If you missed your blind you used to be able to come in any position for a $10 straddle. That rule has been changed. If you want to straddle you have to make up the small and big blind, $7, plus the $10 straddle making it $17 with only $10 of it being live. We we're having problems with a few players intentionally missing their blinds and coming in behind the button for $10 giving them much better position. In our 1-3 game you can miss your blinds and come in under the gun for $6. There is no "Mississippi straddle" in our 1-3 game.

The MS straddle is a different animal. I would not allow a straddle in the cutoff to mak eup for missing the blinds.

I agree with the sentiments expressed here regarding the mississippi straddle. Having the sb live as part of an utg straddle is great. Having it live and allowing straddles from any position doesn't work. IMO staddles from any position just doesn't work anyway, and there wouldn't be a problem if straddles were only allowed utg. Any position creates too much confusion anyway, plus you have the harrahs classic "heirarchy of straddles" nonsense in determining who gets first choice etc etc ad nauseum.

Do I understand this correctly? IN LA if you miss a blind and you wait until the Large Blind comes all the way back to you you have to post a dead small blind when you come in on your natural large blind position? I would not have expected that in LA, maybe someIndian reservation in the middle of nowhere but not LA.

[/ QUOTE ]

No. If you wait for your BB there is never a penalty.

PS Was going to post elsewhere in this thread but I just ran out of gas. Brief Comment: Straddling instead of posting never seems to come up in the LA games I play (mostly $5 or $10 BB spread or fixed buy games with some $10 BB min buy). But some clubs don't even allow a live straddle which of course sucks.
