Java Update last week causing problems

I use two java applets daily on two different online racebooks. Last week Java DL'd and installed an update on my PC and laptop and since then both applets have been freezing constantly. I don't see an option to rollback my java installation to a previous version. Should I reinstall? Any other ideas?
