Value of Pi changed
Value of Pi reduced for simplicity
http://www.ams.org/ The American Mathematical Society is launching a drive to reduce the value of Pi to 3.13. They said the reason is for simplicity of use. And instead of reducing it to what most would think would be 3.14, 3.13 was chosen because 13 is a Fibonacci number. |

What is a fibonacci number? [/ QUOTE ] Heh. 3.17 makes more sense. Not only is it inherently lucky, it's also prime material. Edit: Removed redundant link. nh. |

Re: Value of Pi changed
Wtf doesn't pi have a very specific mathematical meaning? How can you just go around changing it?

Re: Value of Pi changed
I heard there's a guy in Laughland who wants to reduce it to 3.13666 and stamp the last 3 digits on everybody's forehead.
