I look forward to the Eschaton.

Echelon Place will primarily be a condo and a series of hotels without a casino. There will be one central casino binding the rooms together I am told, but the focus of this buildout is not the casino. Also although Boyd has been given the lead role in the press, in reality this is a Morgans Group project along with Boyd, Morgans Group is the operator, Boyd holds the gaming license - at least that is how it was explained to me by executives at Morgan's Group.

That's too bad - I *love* Boyd properties - they are in many ways my favorite gaming company. I had at least hoped that Boyd would be running the show in the new megolopolis.

NEWS 4/11/06 Ruffin Plans New Resort For Frontier Site Including a Giant Wheel.
Phil Ruffin announced that plans for his new $2 billion resort, Montreux (MonTrow) will be entirely funded by him (with no partners). The name Montreux comes from the famed Swiss resort which sponsors the yearly Montreux Jazz Festival.

Eschelon Place information:
Boyd Announces Plans for Echelon Place

1/04/06 In 2007, we low rollers will have one less strip casino to enjoy as Boyd Gaming has announced plans to close, implode and replace it's famed Stardust resort with a 5300 room, 60 acre, $4 billion, mixed use resort.

The new resort will be built on one phase (unlike MGM's project City Center and Las Ramblas, which will be built in multiple phases). The projects 5300 rooms will be divided into five buildings (although only four are shown in the rendering); the main 2600 room Echelon Place Hotel, the 700 room Echelon Place suites tower, the 400 room Shangri-La Hotel, and the 1000 room Mondrian Hotel and the 600 room Delano Hotel.

Three acres of Boyd's 63 acres will remain empty for a possible future residence tower.

Each hotel will have it's own spa.

All four hotels will share:

* a 140,000 sq. ft casino (the third largest in Las Vegas)
* 350,000 sq. ft. shopping venue
* 1 million sq. ft. convention center (the fourth largest in Vegas)
* 25 restaurants and bars
* a 4,000 seat stadium-style theater (for resident production shows)
* a 1,500 seat theater (for touring acts)

The project will be completed in 2010

That hotel needs to be blow-up... have you ever stayed there? Big roaches! They do have a sweet old-school sign that will be missed.

May it RIP. I loved the Stardust and playing poker there. Love the neon, old school sign, lights, & people that look like they are in the mob.

Hope the new property isn't so sterile like everything else.

Now somebody please implode Circus Circus!
