Default MLB \"throw it back\"

Ok I was watching the sox vs. yankees game tonight and got into an interesting argument with my friend.

Heres the situation.
You are at your teams home stadium. There is a HR hit by the opposing team that you catch. You have never caught a ball at a major league game before. Do you throw it back? Keep in mind that most fans are going to boo you if you keep it.

PS- I am a red sox fan so also consider if this happened at a red sox , Yankees game.

Throw it back unless its going to be worth something. It's a freakin' baseball. What are you gonna do, frame it?

I am a Red Sox fan. I throw it back if it is a Yankee home run. If it is off the bat of a Royal or something I don't even bother. I don't want to look like a Cub fan or something.

I'll have you know that it IS possible to throw an opposing team's HR ball back in and get signed to the team.

I threw a home run ball back at Fenway.

Except it was actually a Trot Nixon home run. And I actually just dropped it and it fell back onto the field.

I'm throwing at back at Wrigley Field, and Wrigley Field only.

Otherwise I'm keeping it or giving it to a kid nearby. Throwing back a home run anywhere else would make about as much sense at dotting the i in script Indiana.

I've never understood throwing the ball back. I'd either keep it if I made a pretty sick grab with/without a glove, or I'd dish it to a kid nearby or something. But throwing it back an opposing team's HR? What, are you trying to make some sort of retarded statement? As a fan, I wouldn't heckle anyone around me if they kept the ball, no matter where I was.
