Default General Turn Semibluff question?

The game:

6 handed 100 bb deep everyone with full buyin

The hand:

Raised it up preflop in position get called by one limper...
flop comes with a decent draw (8+outs), opponent checks , hero c-bets, villain calls.

Turn is a blank, villain checks again.

What determines if ever you should bet this turn?

My general strategy is to take the free card. But recently people call all my c-bets with nothing and i hate bluffing at the river and getting called by k6 or whatever. Betting the turn takes it down very often. Downside is you can be check raised off the good draw.

Comments appreciated.

I like to switch it up, sometimes bet sometimes take the free card. The better disguised my draw is the more willing I am to take a free card. If I have a flush draw usually I will bet. Also it is opponent dependent, if he is weak tight bet if he is a calling station check, if he makes big overcalls check. If he gets freaked when a draw hits bet.

There is no clear answer here you have to look at the board texture, metagame, and your opponent.

This is so key. The most beautiful thing is to have a gutshot with a one gapper, check the turn, get your card on the river. Bet, have villain say "WTF that card helped?" and reraise you.

Also, against uber aggressive guys it's almost always best to take your card since you don't want to get raised off your draw. Plus, these are the easiest guys to build a pot with so you aren't losing as much pot building time as you would against a more conservative villain.

i'd be careful betting the turn in position w/ a FD since i've many times said naughty words after seeing a c/r all-in

but in general i think it's ok because it looks less like you have a FD.

Anyway, I tend to bet the turn w/ hands I want to show down because it gets me the free SD OR w/ hands I can easily drop to a raise (so just a bluff). The board texture and the 'how likely is he to call me here' factors come into play.

uh, I almost always check on the turn if my draw doesn't complete. OP or OOP. This thread gave me some insights.
