whenever you think their small stack reduces your edge too much.

i don't like getting in dumb coinflips or 60/40 situations where ppl push preflop for like 100 bucks. when they double up it completely changes the match b/c i get really angry and they get more confident.

exactly. and when it happens 2 or 3 more times it just completely messes with your head

I have no problem doing it if I'm sitting at the table and someone tries to play me HU with 20BB or something foolish. I usually wont start a HU game unless they bring a minimum of 60BB to the table. When you have been playing HU for a while though, and are already up in the match, I think it's pretty bad etiquette to ask someone to max out their reload after you've busted them a few times. It gets into awkward areas of BR management, etc and I would rather just take the edge I have being up already rather than make someone feel embarrassed about already losing a lot to me and stop playing outright.

I won't sit with people that only have 20bb or so at the table, and if I do, its only to ask if they'd like to play with full stacks...if not, I don't play. Depending on the player, the minimum I'll usually sit with is 40bb. I think I'm with gordo tho that 60bb is my normal requirement to play HU, I go below that if I know the player to be bad and more importantly weak/tight. This goes for HU PLO btw.

If the match has been going on awhile and I've stacked the player a few times then I always ask that they keep their stack topped off. Since he'd been doing it before, I expect him to keep it up, and if he doesnt want to then I don't see the problem in quitting the game or sitting out until he reloads.

just sit out for 30 seonds.

if he says ???? say "i can't play vs short"
if he says nothing, maybe ask politely.

IMO its poor etiquette, but still widely acceptable and understood. Especially if you have been going at it for 1+ hour.

I hate getting hit and run on and its ben my experience that if an opponent isnt prepared to reload then he was prepared to hit and run me. I make it standard to ask for a reload at any time a player goes below 5BB. I might be losing value long term but my tilt factor after he goes from 500 to 5K when I expose myself to 10-20K at any time is seriously just dumb imo.
