My favorite Rakim songs not yet mentioned:

"In the Ghetto" and "Follow the Leader".

Also,

"I take 7 MC's put em in a line
And add 7 more brothas who think they can rhyme
Well, it'll take 7 more before I go for mine
And that's 21 MC's ate up at the same time"

This is pretty much a true statement.

Starvs Your argument is completly ridiculous. It doesn't matter if people listened to his rap and influenced them, the final product of that rapper is what is important. Big L would be just as sick lyrically and the way he flows whether or not Rakim existed.

I aint no joke is very good. But Still this is no where close to Big L's talent. Big L is like the same thing, only better. I think people just don't listen to L enough to realize he is better

Everyone into hiphop has listend to all of Big L's [censored]. He was great. But, you gotta be a noob to not understand Rakim's influence on the whole scene.

Personally, I think KRS-ONE is the GOAT, but Rakim is in the discussion.

The entire Paid In Full Album is incredible, one of the top 3-4 albums of all time. My melody may be the greatest single hip hop cut in hisory, and I Aint No Joke, Eric B is Preisdnet, You Know I Got Soul, etcetcetc
This is an album, one of the rare ones, that u never have to rewind or ff. With the possible exception of the instrumental "Chinese Arithmetic".
