i change our flags to venetian 5k chips and we roll over to a 10k max bet table. we try to ask them to raise the max to 20k but they won't do it because i don't have established playing history there. it's an old fashioned game of chicken.

Sad, but likely true. The pit isn't smart enough to realize if you flat bet table max, it's near impossible to gain an edge in any BJ game with more than 1 deck, even for the best BJ player in the world.

Sit down at the biggest table you can find in the pit (probably $200 min? @ a nicer hotel?) and start betting the table min after getting carded. Once you get drunk and hit a downswing pull a wad of 80k or a bunch of flags and yell that, "Now it's time to gamble for real" and watch everyone around you gasp.
