Luxury Tax?
I'm not following the political-economic debates closely but can I assume that Ac property rights libertarians or whatever they call themselves ars against a luxury tax, higher than regular sales tax, on items the government deems frivolous and/or worthy of such an extra tax?

Re: Luxury Tax?
Stand for corporate luxury tax? I mean, it's becoming a common practice in sports leagues.
Counter-proposal to stifle inequality in a league that's supposed to give off some illusion of parity? Surely not salary caps? |

Re: Luxury Tax?
A true economic libertarian would say any tax is theft. To become a truly eco-lib I think it is necessary to adopt anarchism in some form.

[ QUOTE ]
Stand for corporate luxury tax? I mean, it's becoming a common practice in sports leagues. [/ QUOTE ] Everyone has agreed to let sports leagues run by different rules than our economy, because the consumers (fans) benefit in different ways. If Microsoft gains a competetive advantage and is able to produce a better, less expensive operating system than everyone else, all consumers can potentiall benefit. However, if the Yankees gain a competitive advantage, only their fans can benefit. Anti-trust and luxury tax are just two areas where we treat sports leagues differently than our economy. |
