Default internet diagnosticas

I am wondering how I can get to the root of a internet lag problem. Right now my internet seems to be going much slower than normal, and poker rooms are going in and out of connectivity (while websites and everything else load fine)... Im wondering how I can find the root of this problem and what steps I should take..

Is it my router, wireless connection, bandwith being stolen? Is it my service provider, the poker site, or a worldwide slowdown?

I have found some bandwith test at cnet.com, but Im really not sure what the results mean, or if this is even an appropriate test to conduct.

any help/tips would be appreciated.

thanks

Could you post the results of the cnet test?
If you open up you Alt+Crtl+Del window and go to the "network" tab when you're not using anything connected to the internet is there anything there?(ie. does the graph go up and down alot? and how high?)
How old is your router and is it encrypted/ are there other computers that you know are connecting to it/ are you within range of it?
Have you run a virus scan recently/ how do you protect your computer?
... just a few questions that will help to get to the source of your problem.
