Default 50NL - QQ overpair on turn

Villain just sat down and was an unknown at that time.

Against an unknown player I would bet something like 17$ and if I get called I would probably check the river behind.

I think, the big question is, what's more important? pot control or protection?
I would decide for protection because I don't want to have a stupid decision when a diamond, King or Ace come on the river and he makes a 2/3 pot size bet.

OK but when we bet 17 we are essentially committed even if he c/r ai. It's only 20 more into what is then a $60 pot.

The scare cards A,K and diamond that you mentioned will appear in 25% of cases on the river. So in 75% you will likely have him beat if you had him beat on the turn also. I think is too weak to check the turn, make reasonable sized bet here something like 2/3 so you dont offer him proper odds to call with drawing hands or AT, AK, KQ.
If he c/r AI the turn you are in big trouble and i would most likely fold it but given the odds offered i will call it probably.

You are ahead of his range so felt this. bet 17-20 and call a shove.

How do you figure?

77 10-10, KK, AA have him beat.

He's beating only JJ and possibly AK if the villain is super aggressive. I'm discounting AK because he's not getting anywhere near the pot odds here to chase a six outer.

I would bet a lil more on the flop (pot) but check behind on the turn and call a river bet.

If he pushes the river I would fold unless I have noted him as being super aggressive against perceived weakness.

hes beating 22,33,66,88,99, who have him on AK.

89 is fishing, A10, K10, Q10, J10

Ive seen villians call 3bets with this kind of junk way too many times to narrow his range as you have, we cant put him on your range until he raises.

So villian is calling 10 times the BB with A-10, K-10, Q-10, J-10, 2-2, 3-3?

Pretty loose villain wouldn't you say?

He is unknown so we cant assume he is loose one way or another.

3betting to 5 isn't exactly in the upper range of 3bets, mine are usually over 7. When they are around 5 I call with some marginal hands.
