Lots of Russian food, but I guess the weirdest ones would be beef tongue served cold like a deli meat and dried cured fish.

We are in extreme disagreement on this matter.

My family makes some stuff called vingadorsh for Christmas. It's cubes of beef soaked in vinegar and peppers, then slow-cooked all together. You add portugese bread in the end and it soaks up the juice and it turns into a kind of mush with beef chunks and peppers. The texture takes some getting used to but when it is cooked right, the meat is crazy tasty and it usually has a very strong and spicy flavor.

Be warned though, it will make your house stink like vinegar for a few days though when you cook it.

Are fried pickles considered strange?

[/ QUOTE ]

I've never had fried pickles, but has anyone tried Kool-Aid pickles? I've never tried them, but I'm curious if anyone else has. Link to the article about them.

there is nothing odd or weird or unusual about jamaican patties

[/ QUOTE ]

I had never heard of these in my life before this thread.

I thought it odd that other people found this food to be odd, as they used to serve them to us fairly regularly for lunch in the New York City public school system. For a long time I thought they were an American food.
