Default I know...another stupid chip set question

So anyway, I'm going for the 500 customized NJ set from a certain affiliate, and can't decide how to break the set up. It's low limit stuff, probably .50/1 and 1/2 limit, $25 and $50 NL, and 10 or so player tourneys (maybe a couple more, but I don't have room for much more than that.) I was thinking going 150 $.25, 150 $1, 100 $5, 65 $25 and 35 $100. Starting tourneys with maybe T200 and 1/2 blinds. That sound good?...any input would be appreciated as to what you think may work better...I'm really clueless here.

I've spent entirely too much time thinking about my own situation with the NJs to do myself any good. Basically. the set depends on a couple of things. Can you deal with $25 = 0.25 or do you want different chips?

Also, what type of starting stack are you looking at for tournaments? Rebuys or not?

The only real difference between a tourney and a cash game is the ability to rebuy back in if you go bust. The demnos really don't matter so get what you think you'll need for your cash game and then just give out the same amount for tourneys and make it a freezout.

If you're players (or you, and I'm like this) don't like playing with the same denoms in both games, then you'll have to buy more chips.

I'm thinking just freezeouts for now. Also, I guess we can color off the $1 chips in time so that the people who bust early can at least get some .50/1 limit going without having to wait too long. I was thinking if there's just a few of us we can run T400 and 1/2, and T200 if there's 10+ people. Hopefully coloring off the $1s in the tourney will let the people who bust early play some .50/1 at least. I'm thinking this will work...for T200 go like 1 $100 2 $25 8 $5 and 10 $1. I'd rather not have $25=.25 although I suppose I'm not totally closed to the idea.

Posted this in another thread but it seems to apply very well for your situation.

I will tell you what I have and why it works great for our game.

I have 500 NJ Desert Sands with...
180 - $1
180 - $5
100 - $25
40 - $100

We can run a 15 person game with stacks of $200 (28 chips). By the time we color up have 3-4 people out and ready to play a cash game.

Then a 0.25/0.25 cash game starts. After color up we have plenty of $1s and $5s, and we use the $25s as quarters. There aren't as many of these, but we can get 32 on the cash game table and that is usually enough, if we need more we put more $100s into the tournament, and pull off $25s for the cash game.

If I could get another 500 chips, I would probably double my current set, and maybe take 100 of the chips and get 50 quarters and 50 $0.50 chips for the cash game.

Hope my experience helps.

MY input is, don't use the same chips for tourneys and cash games unless you are VERY sure about your current and future players.
