i can see it now - luckyjimm goes on the heater of a lifetime, he gets $40,000 in his account - enough to sit at 200/400; benyamine is waiting for any takers.

he sits in, explains that he's been a railbird at these games for so long, knows how benyamine plays, and isn't scared. then he plays one hand and loses his whole stack, Q973 to AA.

Serious question: do you think I should try short-stacking $2/$4 and $3/$6? I've got the Slotboom book. This way I could potentially make a big score while minimising financial risk. The drawback, however, is I tend to play too many hands, and I couldn't do this, I'd have to significantly tighten up if I wanted to successfully short-stack.

I just saw some guy buy in for $450 and get it up to $8600 in 25 hands on a $10/$20 six-max table. That'd be nice.

jim i wouldn't bother shortstacking. you like seeing lots of flops from what i can make out from your hand postings, and you probably wouldn't have the discipline to effectively shortstack, and also it takes out of the question your vastly superior flop post flop play. Ur the man luckyjimm

Killsadie, do you really think the iPoker 10/20 games are soft? I've seen some very donkish moves, but clearly there's a large pool of VERY well-rolled players in this game. And, yes, I've seen some really good players.

I short-stacked the 5/10 game once before, buying in for 400. (Though that is twice what a true short-stack should have, right). Fell down to 250, tripled up to 750, won some more, then doubled up to 1900 and left. It was fun. But, yes, I'm so keen to see flops, and after calling a few raises suddenly I'd find I'd lost most of my money. Instead I should be playing all-in or fold, right?

Also, if you short stack and lose a bit, can you top up to what you started with or does that defeat the object?

If I do give it a go, it will be at 3/6.

But I think Andy's right. I like to see flops. To make up for calling too much preflop, I have good judgement post-flop - I know what hands to keep going with.
