Default CAKE mix

I didn't realize how much I like Cake until I put this playlist together:

Love You Madly
Opera Singer
Shadow Stabbing
Wheels
Never There
No Phone
Sheep Go To Heaven
Stickshifts and Safety Belts
The Distance
Italian Leather Sofa*
Rock and Roll Lifestyle
Ruby Sees All
Short Skirt Long Jacket
Satan Is My Motor*
You Part the Waters*

* = my current favorites

Discuss.

(I can think of at least two omissions that I may get criticized for.)

Amateur mistake. It's always better to make it from scratch.

Ditch Never There, and put Commissioning a Symphony in C on instead, and I think you have a nice list. EDIT: Oh yeah, leaving out I Will Survive is absolutely fine by me.

Cake is awesome. And I can't find one of my Cake CD's. I have the case, but no CD. Dammit.

My favorites are:

Sheep go to Heaven
Stickshifts and Safetybelts
Rock and Roll Lifestyle
Let Me Go

(and of course, I Will Survive, my first exposure to Cake)

I just re-discovered these guys again when a buddy threw some of their songs on a party playlist.

Forgot how fun they are.

"Rock and Roll Lifestyle" is my favorite Cake song.

The ironic thing is that I heard it on some alt radio station back home before Cake got really big, and then a few years later, when "Fashion Nugget" came out and everybody knew them because of "The Distance" and "I Will Survive," I was like "Hey, I know these guys from before."

Which, of course, is exactly the kind of attitude that "Rock and Roll Lifestyle" mocks.

Anyway, I am far from a huge Cake fan, but "Motorcade of Generosity" is easily my favorite album of theirs. Along with "Rock and Roll Lifestyle," "Jolene," "Mr. Mastodon Farm," and "Ain't No Good" are all Cake songs I like more than any other Cake songs.

Which is weird, because it's not like their sound has changed very much from album to album.
