Default Could the average NFL fan make it to 20 carries in a game??

Of course this will never happen, but for poops and giggles, say you take your average football fan out there. (between the ages of 22-40) and have the coach tell him he's going to get 20 carries as a running back in an actual NFL game. If he can manages to make it to 20 carries then he wins a nice prize(like money, car, etc.)

Do you think it would be possible for the average guy out there to obtain 20 carries before:

1) he suffers a serious injury (concussion, broken bone, dislocated shoulder, punctured lung)

2) after a few carries, the pain and fear is too great (I've read Brett Favre saying the average fan would panic once the pocket collapsed)

2)he actually gets killed. This is not likely, but i saw a game where Ray Lewis absolutely leveled Eddie George, a 230 lb guy and a fairly chiseled specimen. It would be scary to think how hard a normal dude would go down on a hit like that!

No

I'd say 5% tops could last through 20 carries.

He doesn't have to gain yards? This would be very easy.

knee, knee, knee, knee, knee, fumble, knee, knee etc? Other than that, most people are going to get completely dominated before they reach 5

I think the person would actually have to be trying. And no, I think one tackle from an NFL player would damn near kill me, and I'm in OK shape. After two tackles, I'd be crying like a child. ~5 and I'd kill myself to end the pain.

There is no way the average NFL fan could do this. I'd say the number that could do it is between 1-5%.

LH,

Man, you know what would be sweet? If they had a show where they took like average Joes and had them compete vs. Pros in scenarios like this so you could see how weekend warrior athletes stacked up against professional athletes in sports challenges. That would be awesome. I should propose that to Spike network or something.

I think it's easily possible and even my fat ass could do it. I would assume just taking a knee isn't allowed but the same principle would apply. Basically just run about as far as you're going to get and dive/slide forward just before you would otherwise get hit. You see receivers do it all the time to avoid getting murdered by linebackers.

If you had to stay upright and take 20 shots as if in a tackling drill then I think it would be close and most early to mid 20s people could and most later 30s people could not.

Assuming you don't just take a knee every down and you actually have to try to gain yardage, I believe 85% would fail, 15% would be able to do it.

Furthermore, I strongly believe I would be in that 15%.
