Default You Can Run The Hundred In 8.3

World record is about nine flat. Most NFL safetys are about 9.5 You wake up on your 23rd birthday with this new found ability. Take off from work as assistant manager at Starbucks and go to the football field. Where you were third string tight end in high school five years ago. You are six feet tall, can still bench press 230 and can catch a pass pretty well. But you are certainly no real athlete.

In spite of the fact that you are quite likely to be put into the hospital very quickly if you follow your inclination, we will ignore that fact.

Could you start at wide reciever in the NFL? If no, how fast would your time have to be?

Yes, if Eddie Kennison can play all these years, you ought to be able to. If Tim Dwight still has a job, at least the Jets or someone will pick you up.

If you have any agility at all, you should be able to get a job very easily, and start IF you put x amount of time into it. I would say x is a few months, to get used to catching balls, pick up technique, etc.

So you are the fastest man in the world and faster than the competition by more than a full second in the 100. I definitely think you could start at wide receiver. It's not very physical unless you actually catch a pass or have to make a block. The other team will basically need deep double coverage on you all the time (I really don't know much about football but this seems obvious to me), and the advantage this would create for your team on other areas of the field make it pretty hard to leave you on the bench.

Assuming you have stamina that would be expected of someone who runs that fast and reasonable agility (like say average in the NFL, and can be coached up). In other words, it's not that you can just run the 100 that fast, its that you have the ability to *run* that fast, and your endurance doesn't just die after you've hit 100, then I think the answer is yes. It's not that hard to catch a football, especially if you can outrun everyone else. They can probably teach anyone to take a tackle/not fumble.

At the very least you should get signed and get on the practice team at least, get like maybe 500k. 1.5 seconds is HUGE.

Don't get it. Are you making fun at me for using that antiquated measurement?

not relaly. it's just the first time i've ever seen 100 yard dash times quoted, and it seems totally ridiculous to me. are they used commonly in football? i guess that would make sense.

Yeah, the 40yd dash is a much more relevant #, as QBs can throw ~60yds. But catching is the most important thing, and mental focus (on bringing the ball in and not worrying about getting hit). I would say this alone won't make you an NFL starter.
