What If... The PGA instituted a legit Head to Head Playoff System?

Instead of a 4 tournament quazi-playoff it would be pretty cool if, instead of this silly playoff they have now which doesn't really prove anything, they instituted a 32 or 64 man bracket system with best of 3 matches over a weekend at different courses. You could have the matches go off in front of a consolation field or something if you wanted to still include 200ish players and the chance to get some serious drama + TV ratings if there was a Tiger/Anyone or Phil/Big Name final. The current system is irrelevant and doesn't really prove anything, this would at least be entertaining to watch.

Field of 32
Best of 3 on Course A over a weekend to 16
Best of 3 on Course B over a weekend to 8
Best of 3 on Course C over a weekend to 4
Best of 3 on Course D over a weekend to 2
Championship best of 3 on Course E

And have other players playing for a consolation pool behind the match play portion.

I think the only way this happens is if you run it over 1 weekend (like the accenture match play)

who cares about the format. it's not about proving anything (best player or anything). PGA realizes that they only make money if tiger is in contention for anything. they figured this system would (1) pretty much guarantee that tiger shows up for 3-out-of-4 events, (2) tiger is in contention for the cup at least 3 out of 4 weeks, and (3) give us a nail-biter finish.

if they achieve only two of these, they are geniuses and should be hired to revive the NHL.
